Evil Geniuses ease past G2; to face Astralis in ESL One New York final

Evil Geniuses defeated G2 2-0 (16-8 Dust2, 16-7 Nuke) in the semi-final of ESL One New York, booking their spot in the grand final.
Evil Geniuses replied to François "amanek" Delaunay's double entry in the pistol to claim the first round on Dust2 as Terrorists, going up 6-0 before G2 managed to win their first round. The Frenchmen were struggling on the defense, managing only sporadic rounds until Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey's 1v2 clutch in round 13, which seemingly inspired G2 to go on a three-round streak and end the half 10-5 down.
After the switch, Evil Geniuses looked back on track as they retook A on a pistol, but G2 bounced back to 11-8 after winning a force buy and following ecos. However, the North American side secured a clean first buy round and a magnificent round by Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov followed, as the Bulgarian took down three with the AWP to salvage a 3v5 situation. After that, Evil Geniuses quickly closed out Dust2, 16-8, moving onto their map pick of Nuke.

On the second map, Evil Geniuses brought over their momentum from the first one. Following a successful Terrorist pistol, the North Americans grabbed the first and subsequently the second gun round, the latter coming off the back of another impressive CeRq play.
The score was 8-0 before G2 mustered their first by winning duels across the map, but they couldn't repeat that in the following round which resulted in their bank being broken. Evil Geniuses extended their lead up to 10-1 before, spearheaded by Lucas "Lucky" Chastang, G2 started locking down the A site.
G2 managed to end the half with four rounds and started working towards a comeback by claiming the Terrorist pistol and the following two rounds (11-7), but they were no match for Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and co. with rifles, who capped off the map swiftly, 16-7, taking the series 2-0.
